The suit of Pentacles is related to Autumn, and shows a time to reap what you have sown in Spring (Cups) and Summer (Wands), and to review the harvest of your actions to date. Astrologically, Pentacles are related to the signs of Taurus, Capricorn and Virgo. One way of looking at this suit is that it can show the end result of your thoughts as depicted in the Swords cards and their element of Air, your emotions as found in the Cups cards and their element of Water, and the actions you took in the Wands cards and their element of Fire. Here we find the Element of Earth and the things it represents such as this material plane of existence, money, financial resources, property, work, and outcomes. When reversed, the cards can point to the lack of those things or a blockage in achieving and maintaining them. The fruits of our own labours through work, study and the achievement of tangible goals are shown in the Pentacles cards. They can symbolise the end result of ideas put into action. Garden, nature and the outdoors can also relate to this suit. Pentacles represent health, physical strength and wellbeing, as well as being grounded. Those people who are represented by a Pentacles court card tend to demonstrate a practical, down to earth approach to life. When reversed or negatively aspected, a downturn in finances or career may be indicated. Material gain could be sought at the expense of relationships and the things that money can’t buy. Many people count their self-worth by their nett worth and a reversed Pentacles near a Cups card could indicate this. An abundance of Pentacles in a reading could mean that the querant is too caught up in the material world and is neglecting their emotional and spiritual lives. By the same token, someone with many Cups cards in a reading could be neglecting their material wellbeing, or someone with predominately Swords cards may be paralysed by worry in the face of their difficulties. A tip is to look at the balance of the cards in a reading – the cards that AREN’T present can be as revealing as the ones that are. Description of the Ace of Pentacles A hand emerges from a cloud that is aligned with the left side of the card. The hand is facing palm up, and resting on the palm with the fingers curved around it is a five pointed star in a circle. This image of the Pentacle is coloured yellow. It takes up the top half of the card. The bottom half of the card shows a path leading towards an archway in a hedge. The grass around the path is green and the hedge is a darker green dotted with small red flowers. There are white trumpet shaped flowers on a long stem in the foreground. In the distance, viewed through the archway in the hedge, are two mountain peaks that appear to be covered in snow. When this seed card appears, an improvement in finances, career, or material circumstances is on the way. You may be planning a new enterprise, writing a book, undertaking a creative endeavour or business partnership. Basically, anything that will have a tangible presence in the material world on completion. The Invitation of the Ace of Pentacles You are Invited to turn your attention to your physical world and Self. You are Invited to take care of your physical needs and resources, such as starting a budget, an exercise regime, or nurturing your home environment. You are Invited to become grounded and centred in things that bring you joy. The Gift of the Ace of Pentacles The Gift of this card is a simple fact: you have the power to change your environment, your career, your finances, and even yourself. Whatever changes you want to make in the physical world, you currently have the strength and ability to bring those changes about. The Challenge of the Ace of Pentacles The challenge of this card is finding a balance between the physical aspects of life and the aspects that are intangible. These could include relationships, self-development, spirituality, and contributing to the world in a way that benefits others and not just yourself. It’s easy to become blinkered by immediate needs and wants and to forget about the bigger picture. We need to keep in mind how we impact others, not just today but in years and generations to come. *background music* Thank you for joining me on the TarotCraft podcast.
