Transcription begins: *background music* Welcome to the TarotCraft podcast. I’m Allison Jean, a Tarot enthusiast from Australia. Please join me on this journey into the mystic depths of Tarot and divination. Let’s take a look at the suit of Cups. This suit represents the Element of Water. Here is where we find emotions, intuition, love, creativity, friendship and connection. The Cups cards are related to Spring, which is a time of new life, growth and the blossoming of potential. Astrologically Cups are related to the water signs of Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces. This suit shows what is happening on an emotional level within people, within groups and also within ourselves. They are a mirror of our inner life, hopes and dreams. When Cups are reversed or negatively aspected they can indicate the ebbing away of emotional fulfilment and love, or a dysfunctional emotional situation. Now, let’s take a look at the Ace of Cups. Every tree was once a seed waiting to be nurtured and brought into being. The Ace of Cups represents the seed of love and emotional connection. This is not always romantic love because, not everyone is looking for, or available for, romantic love. It can also be the love and bond between friends and comrades. It represents the potential for emotional fulfilment, but being a tiny seed and the beginning of the journey of this suit, we don't yet know if that potential will be realised. When reversed, The Ace of Cups can indicate that your emotional needs are not being met in healthy ways. The TarotCraft system shows that each card has an inherent Invitation, Gift and Challenge. The Invitation of the Ace of Cups You are Invited to let down your walls and open your heart. You are Invited to begin a new emotional journey leading to love, to friendship or emotional healing. The Gift of the Ace of Cups You are already open and willing to receive. Your Cup is there to be filled, and you are free to embrace all possibilities. The Challenge of the Ace of Cups When you open your heart to receive, you also make yourself vulnerable and open to being hurt. Shutting down on an emotional level is a way to avoid pain, but the better alternative is to develop better boundaries and improve communication. Description of the Ace of Cups A right hand extends, palm facing up, from a cloud on the right side of the card face. A golden chalice rests on the upturned palm and four streams of water spurt up and out of the Cup, splashing onto the green lotus leaves floating in the calm, blue water underneath the hand. From above, a dove drops a holy wafer with a cross into the Cup. The words Ace of Cups is written across the bottom of the card. Now, remember what I said in an earlier episode. When you are faced with the Challenge, you pull another card for the Gift. The Gift is the key to resolving the challenge.
