I have always been a bit stumped at the advice often given beginners to "Pull a card for the day and look for how that card shows up." Surely that's just a recipe for confirmation bias, not to mention just handing your power over? So I came up with the TarotCraft system and applied a Gift, Invitation, and Challenge to each Tarot card, reflecting the lessons within the card in a way that can be practically applied to your life.
Asking "What invitation/gift/challenge does the Tarot have for me today?" is far more empowering than just pulling a random card and wondering what the message is supposed to be. You could also use Invitation, Gift, Challenge as a 3 card daily spread as well as a one card daily draw. How to do it: Step 1: Remove the 22 Major Arcana from the rest of your deck then shuffle the deck thoroughly. Step 2: Formulate your question. You're going to pull three cards for the answer Step 3: Concentrate on these 3 card spread positions - Gift, Invitation and Challenge Step 4: Now shuffle again while asking your question. (I ask the question 3 times while shuffling.) Step 5: Choose your three cards. How to interpret: The first card - Invitation - offers you an action to take or a perspective to consider in relation to the question. The second card - Challenge - lets you know what you need to overcome or take action on in order to achieve success in relation to the question. The third card - Gift - is the antidote to the Challenge. It tells you the innate quality you have that you can bring forward to meet the Challenge. You don't need to know anything about Tarot, or even look at the faces of the cards, to use this technique. Just shuffle the deck and pull out seven cards. But no peeking! Keep them face down.
