Welcome
I created this blog as a way of sharing my thoughts and experiences on Tarot, magick and the psychic arts. I am a Magickian, a Pagan and a Witch (not Wiccan - no offence to the folk of that religion, but it’s not what I practice) and I’m interested in Qabalah, Aleister Crowley’s Thelema and Enochian magick.
I got my first Tarot deck in 1985 and started a more serious study of the cards in 1992. I have worked as a professional Tarot reader since 1995 and am also a student of occult philosophy, so my interest in Tarot ranges from simple fortune-telling to it’s Qabbalistic and astrological correspondences.
Tarot has changed me in the most extraordinary ways. It has an energy that transforms, confronts and elates me on a daily basis. The cards just never get old for me. The Fool, The Magician, The High Priestess - they are just as mysterious and enticing as the first time I saw them. I don’t think it would be an exaggeration to say that I have done over a 1,000 readings and not one of them is the same as any other. The cards say something new and different every time. They still surprise me again and again.
Every time I shuffle the deck and lay out the cards, it’s like the first time. They are an enigma to me. If I think I have delved to some depth and mastered the secret of one of the cards, a whole new world opens up and I am once again at the beginning. It has been the most magical Fool’s Journey.
I am quite psychic/clairvoyant and I have seen this develop in my Tarot students over the years. Tarot definitely opens up your psychic awareness, which is a nice side-effect. I will be adding material about psychic development and some simple and fun things you can do to to wake this part of yourself up.
Most of the material contained in this blog is derived from material I have written for classes and workshops I have run in Tarot, particularly the Tarot and magick study groups at Penrith, Australia, in 2004 and the 22 Week Tarot Course in Newtown, Australia, in 2006 and of course the many of classes and groups I facilitated at Mysterys Metaphysical Bookstore since 1995.
Please feel free to use this material for your personal study or in not-for-profit learning groups. And if you do use this in a group, please credit me and this website as the source. And let me know! I love connecting with people who are studying Tarot and I’d be very happy to answer questions and hear about your progress.
I have had people passing my work and writing off as their own in the past and it’s very disappointing, so please be sure to credit the source.
My understanding of the cards has changed and broadened over time, however in the interest of moving forward, and as a record of where I have been, I am happy to let history stand with any errors and ommissions and hope it will be of use to someone. My next project is ‘78 Weeks of Tarot - a study of the Thoth deck’. Stand by!
