The darkside of the Laws of Attraction
I think one of the draw backs of the LOA movement is that there is a lot of focus on the acquisiton of material objects. Personally, my LOA work is focused on freedom - financial freedom, spiritual freedom etc - being able to draw to me the opportunities and resources I need when I need them.
I’d rather take a taxi than have an expensive sports car that I then have to worry about insuring, fueling, repairing, cleaning etc.
Many LOA teachers and facilitators focus on acquairing money and goods and while this is fine and we certainly need this to get through life comfortably, we need to be conscious consumers - where do the products come from? Are they made under ethical and fairly paid conditions? Do I really need another do-hickey in pink when I already have it in blue and orange?
Do you believe that once you get ‘it’ everything will be okay? I remember listening to a friend tell his wife ‘once we get a new sofa and a plasma tv, everything will be fine’. I think a lot of people apply that logic to their life and their spending. Material goods won’t make it all better. Only spiritual growth and awareness will do that.
You don’t need to spend a lot of money on products or even courses and books designed to teach you the laws of attraction. Use the library, share resources with friends, start a discussion group. Read blogs and internet articles on the topic. Pray is free and you can do that anytime - ask your angels, your guides and the the Universe to guide you and teach you.
