The first cards drawn are the Lovers and The Knight of Swords. This relationship seems to be on again and off again. There is a sense of pulling apart and then coming back together, but things can be pretty stormy between you. There is definitely a strong spiritual and emotional tie between you which is why you keep being drawn back together. However, it does seem like a painful relationship overall. I pulled two more cards for you and they are the 2 of Pentacles and the 7 of Wands which suggests money is a big source of difficulty and fighting between you. Your partner can be unnecessarily defensive, they need to try and understand that you are on their side, and to try and improve their communication with you. I then asked “what do YOU need from the relationship” and the card drawn is the 7 of Cups which suggests that you aren’t entirely sure what you want, or that what you want isn’t on offer from your partner. The next card is Temperance suggests that you both need to find a way to compromise and meet in the middle if you want the relationship to last and to thrive.
Every relationship has a Gift and a Challenge to teach us things about ourselves and how we can grow together, and separately. For this relationship, the Challenge is the King of Cups, which means you both need to work on being aware of your emotional states and to find healthy and functional ways of dealing with difficult emotions, otherwise one or both of you might end up using habits and behaviours that are dysfunctional and toxic to cope. The Gift of the relationship is the Page of Swords. Take time to be in the moment together, to be unconcerned about what has passed and what is to come. Just be together in the here and now with no expectations or agenda.
