Please join me on this journey into the mystic depths of Tarot and divination. Let’s start with the suit of Wands. The suit of Wands represents the Element of Fire and in this suit we see life force itself, and things you for which you feel a passion. It can represent sexuality expressed physically, or directed towards other activities. The spectrum of the cards in the suit shows ideas growing from inspiration to reality. When Wands cards appear events are likely to be moving quickly to a conclusion or to an outcome. As opposed to say the suit of Pentacles where things are moving more slowly. Health, vitality, optimism and hope are all positive attributes of this suit. Some cards in the suit will show energy being harnessed and directed, and others will show power out of control, or burnout. When reversed or negatively aspected, they can show blockages, delays and obstacles. When I talk about a card being reversed, I mean that it comes out of the deck upside down instead of right way up. And when I say “negatively aspected”, what I am referring to is when you get a generally positive card like the Ace of Wands but maybe it comes up with a card that’s pretty difficult, something like the 9 of Swords, or the 4 of Cups, or even something like Death or the Devil. That means the general positivity of Ace of Wands, or that particular Wands card, is being held back or being repressed in some way. So when a card is negatively aspected there is a tough card that comes along with it and you need to have a look at it. It’s going to give you more information about what is happening with that energy of the Wands. Is it growing? Is it developing? Is it evolving? Or is it stagnating and being repressed. Description of the Ace of Wands A right hand emerges from a cloud that floats to the right side of the card. The hand grasps a branch that has leaves sprouting from the sides and the top. The leaves are shaped like the Hebrew letter “yod” which is spelled y-o-d. The tip of the branch is shaped somewhat like the head of a penis. The hand and cloud are both white tinged with gray. This takes up most of the room on the face of the card. At the bottom of the card are the words “Ace of Wands”. Just above the words is a river flowing though green fields and some trees. Beyond the river, in the far distance, is a castle situated on top of a mountain. It is surrounded by hills. Ace of Wands The Ace of Wands represents the capacity to create new life physically and creatively. It can indicate the search for meaning and purpose in your life and a connection to something bigger than you. This card shows the positive potential for a new creative and energetic beginning. When this card comes to call, you might be feeling in need of a new lease of life or a surge of energy that needs direction. If it’s reversed or negatively aspected, a false start may occur, or the potential held by the Ace may fail to manifest. You could lack confidence in your power, and you might be resisting opportunities for change or evolution and potential of this Ace is blocked. (Hint: pull a card to find out what the blockage is and pull another card to find out how to fix it.) The Invitation of the Ace of Wands You are being Invited to not just to shed layers but to be transformed entirely. Embrace the moment and trust the guidance of your inner wisdom. Allow the momentum of your inspiration to carry you forward. You are being Invited to act on the urge to create or to begin something new The Gift of the Ace of Wands Your life is about to be enlarged in some way, with the Gift of inspired guidance on offer. Your innate wisdom is available to you, so act now, with confidence. Inspiration from Divine sources or your Higher Self is making itself known. The Challenge of the Ace of Wands The initial inspiration may be starting to feel stale, or you are second guessing yourself. When the excitement and novelty of a new enterprise wears off, you may find it hard to keep going, but persistence will bring success. You may feel such a rush of energy and power that it is hard to be grounded enough to make the inspiration you are receiving a reality. So remember what I said. When you are faced with that Challenge, you pull another card for the Gift. The Gift is the key to resolving the challenge.
