Ace of Wands

ace-of-wands.jpg

The Ace of Wands is a symbol of conception, of beginnings and new starts. The past is behind you and any difficulties or restrictions are removed. When this card appears in a spread, you know that new, life-giving energy is flowing toward a goal.

If the question is about a relationship, it is likely to be a very passionate one. The surrounding cards will reveal if the passion will continue to smoulder or will burn out in spectacular fashion. All the Wands cards are ‘masculine’, or active, in nature. The opposite of the Ace of Wands is the Ace of Cups. All Cups cards are ‘female’, or receptive, in nature. Together these cards symbolise the traditional powers of the Sun and Moon. Mythology surrounding the Sun often relates a ‘risen’ god, or a god who dies and is resurrected, like Jesus Christ or the Egyptian god Osiris. THe god is a symbol of the Sun, which ‘dies’ in Winter and is ‘reborn’ in Spring. You are likely to find yourself at a long awaited and celebrated beginning when this card appears. Wands are traditionally associated with work and with personal projects.

Ace of Pentacles

ace_pentacles.jpg The card depicted here is the Ace of Pentacles from the Robin Wood deck. It’s a beautiful deck and well worth looking out for.

When the Ace of Pentacles appears in a reading, like the other Aces, it tells me that something is about to happen. It’s a card of a new beginning, espcially in regard to work and money. Think of the Pentacle as being a coin, or currency, and you are off to a good start. In the Ace, a job offer or promotion might be in the wings, extra money may be coming to you, or an opportunity to make some extra money.

Let’s move onto the Two of Pentacles.

Tarot 101 - Ace of Wands

All the Aces in Tarot represent potential - something new and exciting on the verge of manifestation.  Fresh energy is about to burst into your life and shake things up. This card bodes well for your health, your career, your creative projects - in fact, it’s just a pretty good card all round!  I’d be very happy to see it anywhere in a spread.  If you have asked about love, this card indicates passion - it’s pretty phallic, don’t you think?

If you want to get really esoteric about it, the Ace of Wands contains all the other Minor Arcana cards within it.  It is the ultimate potential! It is linked with the Sun and is the masculine counterpart to the feminine Ace of Cups, which is linked with the Moon. All of the Aces are found within Kether on the Tree of Life.Â
